Our philosophy
"Healing through nutrition needs to be practiced as an art." - Barbara Wren, Principal of the College of Natural Nutrition
Use this week as the perfect time to cleanse and relax, clearing and lightening yourself in preparation for the year ahead. As the seasons change, so do we according to the Chinese system, we move into the energy of the metal element, a time for inward reflection, heightened communication, consolidation and creativity. However, if we do not harness the full potential of these changes in seasons and our environment, we can often find this transition challenging, experiencing fatigue, indecision and overindulgence as we head into winter. So take some time out and initiate the changes you would like to make or just find some space and have a wonderful week.
Natural Nutrition is a unique and wonderful therapy combining nutrition with ancient naturopathic and hydrotherapy techniques to provide a complete holistic philosophy for optimal health and potential.
We see detoxification and healing as the creation of freedom and movement on all levels of the individual. We can maintain the integrity of the body and support this freedom by understanding the influence of the Chinese 5 Elements and body clock, the blood groups, the emotions, the environment we live in and the natural influences like the moon phases, seasonal changes, equinoxes and solstices.
During the retreat our role as practitioners will be to empower each of you with knowledge and facilitate the process of cleansing and re-nurturing at its most basic level - the cell. The programme will be crafted just for you as we are all different and unique individuals.
We offer diet and naturopathic techniques as explorative tools for your body and are happy to share our own experiences on our journeys to learn the art of natural nutrition. We invite you to get creative with yourself, your health and to feel great.
During the retreat you are able to take detoxing to whatever level you may chose whilst being able to relax, rejuvenate and have some fun in the peace and tranquility of beautiful surroundings.
It is much more that just a physical process - a detox will have an effect not just on your body, but also your mind, emotions and spirit. It can be a chance to catch up with who you really are, to relax and unwind for a new beginning.
The Techniques
The majority of us are living fairly challenging lifestyles within an ever more toxic environment hence a greater need to cleanse and detox. We may be dumping toxins into our joints or getting them pushed out of our skin, lungs and reproductive organs and don't forget those toxins we store away in our fat cells. So if we are asking the body to cleanse and let go (a lot of us seem to have a problem with this!!) we need to create movement and get things going. We can aid this elimination by using a careful selection of naturopathic techniques, allowing all your organs to be supported thereby achieving a far more comfortable detox.
The techniques we are using vary greatly from skin brushing to enemas, all with a common goal - to help the body to achieve balance in any areas in which it is struggling.
We will design your personalized detox week schedule and give you technique suggestions that would be very beneficial during your cleanse.
Detailed information on all techniques will be explored during the retreat.

Yoga
|
Yoga is a 5,000 year old science that unites the physical, mental and spiritual. It is a wonderful form of exercise/therapy allowing you to destress and detoxify. Whatever your age, shape, level of fitness or lifestyle you will benefit from yoga and feel the difference from day one of your yoga practice.
It does all of the following and more:
- Strengthens and tones muscles and joints
- Stimulates your internal organs
- Rejuvenates the endocrine system (glands and hormones) helping to balance the emotions and improve your outlook on life
- Release tension through the postures liberating vast resources of energy
- Yogic breathing helps revitalise the body and calm the mind
- Meditation encourages peace of mind allowing for a greater sense of purpose and strength
Sybille, your yoga teacher on the retreat, has based her practice on the principles of Hatha yoga, building on this to create her own distinct style a fusion of pilates, dance and other yoga disciplines. Whether you want to improve your yoga practice or try your first downward dog... you'll love Sybille's classes (we do).

Pranayama and meditation
Breathing Exercises
Hand in hand with the practise of yoga postures, we practise deep breathing and concentration of the mind. The yogic breathing exercises known as pranayama revitalize the body and help to control the mind, leaving you feeling calm and refreshed, while the practice of positive thinking and meditation gives increased clarity, mental power and concentration. Practise of classical hatha yoga postures is the devise that ties the mind to the body through the "thread of the breath". The breath becomes the key to the
focusing of the mind.
Guided Meditations
Consciously or unconsciously we are all seeking the peace of mind that meditation brings. By the practise of asanas and pranayama the mind becomes one-pointed and one can progress quickly in concentration and meditation. Meditation is the most powerful mental and nerve tonic. The mind becomes calm and steady. There are certain steps that are being taught that one can take along the way to establish a foundation and thus ensure success. For with the continued practise of meditation, you discover a greater sense of purpose and strength of will and your thinking becomes clearer and more concentrated, affecting all you do.
